Adventure #4 – Salton Sea – Completed

Woa, this was one hell of a journey. First off, the temperature was around 100 degrees. Secondly, the air thick with the smell of waste and death. Needless to say, it was extremely hard to breath at the Salton Sea. If you are not aware of what the Salton sea is, like I was at the time, check out the following site. Nasty and Salton Sea InfoBasically it’s a lake that LA turned into a dumping ground for factory waste.

Quite possibly the best part of this trip was when I first got out of the car and ran to the water. I was about to run in when I noticed a ton of dead fish floating around. Now remember, I had no idea of the story behind this lake at the time. As I quickly stopped myself from going into the water, my feet dug into what I thought was sand. After closer investigation, I was ankle deep in fish bones. This wasn’t just a patch of fish bones. The entire beach was covered in bones. It was absolutely disgusting.

After about 3 hours at the Salton Sea we decided to head home. Normally I wouldn’t write about the drive home but, this trip was by far the worst so far. This is the play by play version of what happened.

Jordan: “Hey Chris, Lets see if I can get up to H miles per hour” (my speedometer goes up to the mph letters)
Chris: “snoring”
Jordan: “Woa, it’s windy out here, I keep slowing down, I’m at 60 now.!!!”
Chris: ” huh?”
BOOM
Chris: “Dude, your tire blew up”

It took us about an hour to change the damn thing. My jack wasn’t tall enough so we had to find bits of wrecked cars lying on the side of the road to prop it up. Any way, I attached some photos of the journey below.
